Change the Track 1

“Change the Track” is a powerful documentary that captures the journey of the Beats Bus, a grassroots initiative led by hip-hop veterans Steve Arnott, David “DJ Redlocz” Okwesia, and legendary producer Nigel Taylor.

Together, they bring a mobile music studio to the youth of Hull, particularly targeting neighborhoods impacted by economic hardship, social challenges, and limited opportunities. The Beats Bus becomes a safe haven, offering music production workshops, rap battles, and creative mentorship to young people who are often overlooked and underserved.

Through the transformative power of hip-hop, “Change the Track” sheds light on how music can be a lifeline, helping these young people to channel their frustrations, discover their voices, and build a sense of identity and purpose. As the Beats Bus rolls through the city, it becomes more than just a studio on wheels — it’s a catalyst for change, encouraging self-expression and instilling hope in kids who may otherwise feel trapped by their circumstances. With the support of local organisations, including The Office of Police and Crime Commissioner for Humberside, the documentary showcases the profound impact that music, mentorship, and community can have on breaking cycles of deprivation and giving youth a path toward brighter futures.
